 2020 year in review

February:  South LA Climate Commons Launch Event

On February 8th, TRUST South LA, in partnership with the South LA Climate Commons,  hosted a community event to begin creating a neighborhood plan to address climate change and displacement along the Slauson Corridor. Together, we developed strategies to create parks for people, healthy homes & clean air, jobs we deserve, and public transit that keeps up!

April Launch of Meals Program

As a response to the emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic, TRUST South LA Launched its Meal distribution program, which since its beginning has served 1500 families consistently throughout the year, providing groceries, produce, and warm meals twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. On multiple occasions, we also gave out Visa gift cards and school supplies towards those same families.

June 2020 saw a historical activation of the civil rights movement in the United States. TRUST South LA continues to stand in solidarity with the protesters and demonstrations across the city and country demanding justice for George Floyd, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor and countless other Black individuals murdered by police. We strongly support calls to defund police across the country in order to fund necessary community-centered and community-led public investment in Black communities.
