ART SHOWCASE PROGRAM

Come join us! we still have FREE art supplies available! Youth from 3rd to 8th grade are welcome to join our art contest and draw what their vision of a green, healthy park or neighborhood looks like!

How to participate:

1) An adult (parent/guardian/relative etc.) would have to make an appointment via text or phone at (323) 233-4118 to come to TRUST South LA and complete a short survey before receiving their free pack of crayola.
2) Make an appointment to submit the child's drawing.
3) Bring your child/children and their art on the day of submission to take photos of the participants and their drawings.
4)Photos and drawings will be uploaded to our virtual presentation.
5) Youth who submit their drawing by October 23rd and have their picture taken will be eligible to participate in our TABLET RAFFLE.
(one tablet per household)

Unase a nuestro concurso de arte! Todavia tenemos materiales de arte GRATIS! Jovenes/nin@s de 3cer a 8vo grado son bienvenidos a venir a dibujar su vision de un parque/una comunidad verde y saludable.

Como participar:

1) Un adulto (padre / guardian /miembro de la familia, etc) hace una cita por telefono o mensaje al (323)233- 4118 para visitar a TRUST South LA y completa una encuesta antes de recibir un paquete de crayola.

2) Programe una cita para entregar el/los dibujos del/los jovenes/nin@s.
3) Porfavor traiga a su/s hija@s y sus dibujos el dia de la entrega para tomarles fotos con sus dibujos.
4) Las fotos y dibujos seran incluidos en nuestra presentatcion virtual.
5) L@s participantes que entreguen su dibujo en el 23 de Otubre y que se tomen una foto seran elejibles para participar en nuestra RIFA DE UNA TABLETA.
(solamente una tableta por hogar)

SOUTH LA CLIMATE COMMONS PLAN

We had our mid-point virtual convening for the South L.A Climate Commons plan! We presented our Land for the People Taskforce updates to more than 70 community attendees. FOOD VOUCHER PROGRAM UPDATE

In partnership with Ednovate, TRUST South LA has signed up an additional seven South LA families to the LA Food Policy Council's Healthy Neighborhood Markets Network program! South LA families have received $50 to shop for fresh food at local markets! We are excited to continue working with Ednovate and the LA Food Policy Council to help more families access fresh food during the pandemic!

EVENTS AT T.R.U.S.T. South L.A.

Another Elected Official visits T.R.U.S.T. South L.A. - Assemblymember Reggie Jones Sawyer

We are grateful for Assemblymember Reggie Jones Sawyer for visiting T.R.U.S.T. South L.A. and supporting our Free Meal distribution that is ongoing every Monday and Thursday. We admire his work on the State Assembly's Homelessness Committee and the Committee on Status of Boys and Men of Color.

Community Land Trust

We are excited to announce WLA County’s approval for a Pilot Community Land Trust Partnership Program. The “motion directs the Chief Executive Officer and the Los Angeles County Development Authority to identify funding for the pilot program, including $7.2 million made available in the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.” (Read more here!)

This month our team is reading passages from Eleonora Pasotti’s “Resisting Redevelopment: Protest in Aspiring Global Cities.” Her work expands our imaginations on what is possible when we organize as a community; from squatting to utilizing culture and the arts. We are very excited to read T.R.U.S.T. South LA’s Rolland Curtis Gardens history and resident-led efforts in chapter 7! (Read more here!)
